Country & Classic Rock
Entry for July 5, 2007

The band had a lot of fun at the Eagles last Friday during PC alumni weekend.  It was really great seeing some of our friends and classmates.  Steve, Jamie (of the Steve and Jamie Band (alias "Days Later")) and Lee Ann will be reuniting with some of their classmates this Saturday as the Magnolia Class of "77" will be gathering at the LWFC for a good time.  The band will be supplying some of the music and we are looking forward to guest appearances by some of the other talented musicians (mostly drummers) from the Class of "77".  Should be a great time.  Don't forget to come out to hear the band in concert at River Heritage Days this Sunday at 2:00 PM and in Paden City at Music in the park next Thursday.

A big thanks to the all of our friends in Hundred for inviting us to share in their 4th of July celebration.  The band was honored to share the stage with those who entertained the crowd throughout the day.  Barb was excited to be playing for her "homies".  The rain stayed away and a good time was had by all.   Thanks to Greg and the staff from Sounds Incredible for providing the sound equipment for the show.  Fantastic job, guys!  It was also very nice to see all of the family faces in the crowd.

Keep checking the web site for updates on shows and other stuff.  We appreciate the comments, so let us hear what's on your mind.

Any comment on why the band won't be playing on Labor Day in PC? You "homies" had the biggest crowd of the weekend last year. Where you asked to play? Dewayne Spew will be back, popping out of an old RV along with those Oak Ridge Boys wannabes. Not too many stuck around for Spew last year. He had a tough act to follow. Looks like the same old crap. Not likely to attend any of it. Any comment?

Not real sure. I thought we had a pretty nice crowd last year also. That was our first gig as a band and will always stick in my mind. We had a great time and the crowd stuck around to the end. Go figure!

I stayed after you all were done last year to hear Spaw (Spew is more appropriate and very funny) and must admit it was pretty hard to take after hearing live music and left along with everyone else. They probably don't want any thing to real going on before Spaw. I understand they pay him big $$. What a crime. How do you spell BOYCOTT.

For what it's worth, I won't mind not sharing the stage with the karaoke cowboy as there was a bit of a run in with him last year. Not very professional for ..... well ..... check that ....I guess he is a karaoke cowboy and that in itself is unprofessional. Oh well, maybe next year. We'll just have to sit this one out.

Thanks Carol, Paden City is trying to do something nice at the park, It's a shame more people don't take advantage of it.

PC Labor Day has lost its roots. Sadly, the planners and local sponsors turn their backs on local talent. The parade is the only thing that had been preserved over the years, but last year parade was the first year in the history of the parade that the Post 86 Blue Blazer Color Guard was not invited to lead the parade. The planners invited out of towners. Now they have turned their back on your band after bringing them, by far the biggest crowd they had last year. There were actually noticable lines at the consession stands. Sponsors that are located in Paden City are just as guilty. I follow the band when I can. The Spieler's performance was just the best. At any rate, I've not seen any reason to head to the PC Labor Day festivities. Where it was and where it has gone makes me want to SPEW.

Don't be too hard on the people who plan these events. They are donating their time and have limited budgets. I am not a big fan of Dewayne Spaw either, but other than him, the entertainment in PC should be good. Last year you guys were good in your debut performance and have since gotten much, MUCH better. It would be nice to see you there again. They should have pulled Spaw and saved some money for real live music. Maybe you should find an RV for Roland to rise out of.

I agree that the planners donate their time, but they need to get back to the basics. As I understand it the Paden City Labor Day activities were originated to raise money for the high school and extracurricular activities.
I thought it was terrible last year that the Blue Blazers were not leading the parade - as did others from Paden City. Our town is slipping away from us and turning our backs on our own people is a large part of the problem.
I will be at Town and Country Days to hear you perform..., it's nice to have some hometown boys like Scott and Mark entertaining us again.I just wish you would also be at Labor Day. Personally, I'm not going to attend any of the events this year.

I was at the PC park to hear the band (great job!!) and as I remember, it was announced that the band were giving a $150 donation to the PC park. I'm sure you followed up on that promise. I bet you all wish you had kept your money. Oh yeah, and what have you done for me lately? You will be missed on Mian Street.

My thoughts are that you get what you give. We have given quite a bit in the past, doing benefits and fundraisers for many causes and most times for a minimal fee. We gave to PC when they needed it. It's a shame that all people don't share the philosphy...not that we need the money, but we wanted to provide you with a show to top last year's. It was commented that they didn't think that they could afford us this year, due to having to pay the Nashville guy so much. The problem with that complaint is that they didn't even ask. Even T&C days have us listed as "many more" and "and others" in their promotions on the radio. We aren't even given any airtime. I hate to complain, but I hope that we have the biggest crowd out there this year so that they will see all the "others" that the area really likes to support. I won't be attending the PC festivities either, and I haven't missed them since I was a child. We may have some other plans for that day, so kudos to the new guys in town!!

I'm very sorry that you were treated poorly by both T & C and the Labor Day Committee. I went to T & C for the first time in 11 years and it was just to hear you. I spent quite a bit of money while I was there. The same is true of PC Labor Day last year. I went and I spent! I won't attend this year.
